Temple Photography

From the earliest days of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, they have been building temples. While modern temples are built using modern equipment, the pioneer temples like St. George and Manti seen here were made without power tools. Beautiful monuments to God and the craftsmen who built them. In ancient times, the temple of Solomon was carefully positioned to precisely capture the light of the sun. So today, these temples are wonders to behold in almost any light. My favorite light for photographing temples is direct sunlight on the temple itself with significant clouds in the background. I prefer to keep my temple photography free of dramatic alteration and while it would be convenient--and easy-- to replace a background for a more appealing image, all the skies you see in my temple photographs are exactly as they were when I snapped the shutter.
